An object, place, or building that was once deemed useless may gain new meaning through the act of translation. This allows the building to perform in a didactic capacity regarding the past, presenting historical knowledge in a way that prompts one to rethink current ideas and values. The relevance of such a translation emerges from treating the site like a palimpsest; a city of leftovers that become defined and redefined through the process of peeling away the encrusted layers and investigating these artifacts in order for a narrative to unfold.
